About Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer, born August 13, 1970, hails from Newcastle, He is a very popular English footballer, and last played for Newcastle United. His career is marked by many accomplishments – League Championship Winner for Blackburn in 1994-1995, Player of the Year for 1994-1995 and 1996-1997, and the Barclaycard Merit Award in 2002. He is also known for having scored 30 goals for the England team, and scoring 13 goals out of 11 games for the England Under 21 team.

Shearer is known for his endurance in the game. However, he has announced the 2004-2005 season to be his last as a player, choosing instead to beef up his coaching credentials for future careers.

British author Joanne Kathleen Rowling is the creator of the Harry Potter books. As one of the world’s most beloved authors, she is also one of the richest women in the world. Her name is synonymous with Harry Potter, the orphaned boy wizard she created, who attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry along with his best friends, and often finds himself in various scrapes while fighting the evil Lord Voldemort.

Rowling, born in July 31, 1965, studied at and earned a bachelor’s degree in Exeter University. After several hardships publishing the books, Rowling struck gold with Scholastic, Inc. when they published the first book in October of 1998. It was mostly a “magical” trip from there, what with the succeeding books flying off the shelves as soon as they were released, and movie contracts with Warner Brothers soon to follow, Rowling’s fortune was estimated by Forbes Magazine to be at $1 billion, making her a very special case for getting extremely wealthy for writing books.
